AWANG CEKMAT - ENERGY MASCOT

This is our Energy Mascot : Awang Cekmat.  The word Cekmat is a combination of Kecekapan (efficiency) and penjimatan (saving).  Awang Cekmat is an LPG cylinder.  He has a energy saving bulb on his head and petrol filling nozzle as his nose.  His right hand shows efficient and his left hand shows saving.  His shoes represent an oil and gas reservoirs.  The colour of his shoes also has meaning.  Green stands for Gas, Red represent Oil and Blue represent Water.  His leg represent oil flowing through pipelines and shoelace represent drilling of oil and gas.  He is employ to convey the message to use energy efficiently to prevent wastage.

ENERGY CLUB GO BEYOND THE HOUR

Energy club will go beyond the hour.  Last term we have conducted a lot of activities which includes making energy club box from unused shoe boxes, colouring, doing an energy survey to all teachers in SMMG about the knowledge and awareness to save energy, take home information about using energy efficiently using the "saving energy in 7 days the Awang Cekmat way" where each student talks about it with his or her family and makes a plan to change the family’s energy-using behavior.  


This term (2), we planned to do a lot of educating the students and teachers and in turn, they will share what they know about using the energy efficiently and saving energy to their family and siblings at home.  


We will distribute the "switch-off lights pledge door knob" to every classrooms so that everybody will remember to switch-off lights and fans when going out.  We will also distribute the "Easy Energy Action Plan - 10 simple ways to use energy wisely" to all classrooms.  


So far, we are delighted to see our "Switch-off - Don't Waste" sign are still there in all the classrooms.  Thank you to all students for not removing the signs.

The welcoming speech given by The President of Energy Club, Mohd Hanif bin A. Halit.  The Principal was also giving his speech that night.  His speech touched mainly about global warming.  

EARTH HOUR @ SMMG - 26/03/2011

SMMG repeats its history when energy club once again organised Earth Hour @ smmg on saturday night 26th March 2011.  The Guest of honour was the Principal of SMMG, Awg Liew Yong Kim.  Also present was the Deputy Principal Administration, Cg Kelias Hj Tujoh and Senior Master CCA, Cg Azehan Hj Shawal.  Some Senior Masters/Mistresses, teachers and parents were there as well.

ONE YEAR AGO

Last year, for the first time, energy club had organised Earth Hour @ SMMG.  It was held along the corridor of Block B.  Lights were switched off from 8.30 to 9.30pm.  The guest of honour was Deputy Principal Administration, Cg Kelias Hj Tujoh.  Also present, Deputy Principal Academic, Cg Hjh Susilawati DP Hj Muhammad,  Senior Masters and Mistresses, teachers, parents, energy club members and students of Photography club.
