CCA 11

Not much was done this saturday afternoon.  The girls were placing the Energy club's buckets at the administration block to collect water dripping from the staffroom's aircondition units.  The buckets are actually previously paint buckets being sprayed and labelled as Energy club's bucket. 

Teacher Khadijah will inform the school cleaners and gardeners to use the water to clean the toilets and water the nearby plants.

After that, we had the chance to update our Energy club's noticeboard.  There are more need to be done to this noticeboard...

With effect from today, the following will be the new Energy club's office bearers who act as the Students' Advisory Councils (SACs).  The new position is the Education President.  She will be responsible for preparing tips for saving energy during school assembly and organises any events related to educating menglaitans on the needs to save energy.  This news will be updated in the club's noticeboard sometimes next week....Congratulation to the newly appointed office bearer!

Speaking about education,  this morning, Teacher Khadijah was reminding all students and teachers during the morning assembly to switch off fans and lights during break time, between exchanging classes, after 12.30pm and during PTP in the classrooms, study area and canteen.  It is actually a simple task.  It only needs a change of attitudes to do it.


Help Energy Club save energy....It is the responsibility of everybody.... 

CCA 10

23 April 2011 (Saturday)


Our CCA last saturday was quite hot and sweaty.  Energy club members were planting two small trees near Block Mawar.  It was a hard work because not only it was hot, the soils are hard as well. But thanks to some of the students from Year 10(P) who have the heart to give a hand.


Well done students!!!....Go green and save our planet!!..

Cg Bibi Sukarne and Mdm Loh Mei Fong were also in action.  Thanks to Mdm Loh for donating these trees to our club.  She bought the seedlings from New Zealand......

We will make labels for our trees next CCA...

The scientific name for the tree is "Delonix Regia".  It's common name is "Flame of the Forest".  This is how they should look like if they grow bigger....Sooo...beautiful....

GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT SHARING SESSION

Following the Green Talk at PTE Meragang, Geography Department had invited Mr Mernando from OBON SeaWave Sdn Bhd to give talk to SM Menglait teachers.  It was part of the Geography Department sharing session educating teachers about global warming and the urgent needs to save our planet.


Remember the recycled pencils and colour pencils from newspapers and notebooks from sugarcane fibre?????....Here we show you the pictures....Cool...

'GREEN TALK" AT PTE MERAGANG

Today at 1.30pm, energy club and nature club members were off to PTE Meragang attending "Green Talk".  The talk was started at 2.15pm and finished at about 4.30pm.  This is part of the Clubs' sharing session activity.  It was a very informative afternoon!

An officer from O'BON SW SEAWAVE SDN BHD was delivering a talk about environmental awareness. He showed us slideshow about the making of pencils from newspapers and making papers from sugarcane fibre.  At the end of the session, we were able to have a closer view at that very impressive recycled pencils.

The President of PTE Meragang Eco Club, Ain, briefed us on the background of PTEM Eco Club and showed us slideshow on the various activities carried out by the club last year. 

In this opportunity, SMMG Energy Club and Nature Club would like to thank Ms Nicole Chan for inviting us to the talk.  We gain a lot of knowledge and informations.  Also thanks to Cg Zirah and members of PTEM Eco Club.  We hope this sharing session will not stop here.  Maybe next time you can pay us a visit in return.  

CCA 9

 

CCA 9 started with Cg Bibi Sukarne demonstrated how to make paper lanterns.  These paper lanterns will become symbols of energy saving in SM Menglait.  

Even the boys were busy designing their lanterns.

CCA 8

9/4/2011 (Saturday) - 


Energy club members were making energy games (Awang Cekmat jigsaw puzzle and Dolphin maze jigsaw puzzle) and "Carbon Swap" game. 

They were also making labels for Energy club's buckets.  This buckets will be used to collect air-conditioning water dripping from staffrooms.  The intention is to use this water to clean toilets and water the plants around the school.  This way,  energy club can help saving water.

CCA7

02/04/2011 - The first CCA in Term 2 has started today.  All Energy Club's members convened at Bilik Mawar (Conference Room).  Energy club members did a housekeeping after a busy earth hour event.  

There is a change in the Energy Club's Office Bearers.  The new Vice President II is now Siti Munawwarah bte Abdul Karim from Year 9C. Congratulation Siti Munawwarah!!
