BRUNEI ENERGY EXPO

21ST SEPTEMBER TO 23RD SEPTEMBER 2011

SMMG Energy Club was invited to join the first ever 'Brunei Energy Expo 2011' from 21st September to 23rd September 2011 at BRIDEX hall, Jerudong.   The club had showcased their improved "Family Fitness For Energy".  The idea still combines a bicycle, an automobile alternator and car battery to generate electricity to light up a bulb.  This time they used new bicycle and new bicycle trainer.  The members of SMMG Energy Club also did further research on energy calculation and calorie calculation.   Furthermore, they had looked at the pedal-powered technology in the past and their vision about gym of the future.  Every information were printed on A1 posters in detail.


The club was represented by the President of the club, Md Hanif bin A.Halit,  Vice President I, Md Harif bin A. Halit, Empene Engang Anak Jepet and Muhd Hazim bin Awg Mokti.  Other members involved were the Vice President II, Siti Munawwarah Hj Abd Karim, Education President, Norhayati Ochoa Tajuddin, Secretary, Flora Lim Siao Suan, Treasurer, Genie Lim Siew Shien and new members Radin Mas Ida Narina and Siti Nur Haziyah binti Hj Md Kamil.

During the opening ceremony of the Brunei Energy Expo on 21st September, 2011,  the students were reading the school newsletters while waiting nervously for the arrival of His Majesty, the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

The moment of truth...

The President of Energy Club, Muhd Hanif bin A.Halit, confidently explained how the "Family Fitness For Energy" works.


His Majesty showed interest in the project as he listened to Md Hanif.



Md Hanif gracefully told his Majesty that the new bicycle was generously sponsored by The Energy Division


SMMG Energy Club members and those who present were quite amazed and proud to have his Majesty personally ride on the bicycle to try out the "Family Fitness For Energy" himself.



His Majesty kept on asking questions about the project as he sat on the bike.



His Majesty jokingly asked Md Hanif to cycle for one hour to recharge the battery...

Second Place in the competition got a trophy and B$600.00 :  PTE meragang with their "Wave Energy".

"Family Fitness For Energy" by SMMG Energy Club won third place in this alternative energy project competition.  SMMG Energy Club win a trophy and B$500.00.  Well done!!!



Brunei Energy Expo 2011 was also participated by Higher Institutions throughout the country such University Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Institute Teknologi Brunei (ITB), Maktab Kejuruteraan Teknik Jefri Bolkiah and many more.

Public were encouraged to join the Energy Survey conducted by Energy Division and next to it was booth from Department of Electrical Services (DES) showing simulation of Bill Calculation when using Electricity at home....It was quite interesting...

Meanwhile, in the Dome of Bridex where His Majesty had officiated the Opening of Brunei Energy Expo 2011.

In Hall 2,  the Brunei Energy Expo 2011 was participated by large companies from Negara Brunei Darussalam which includes Brunei Shell, Brunei Methanol Company and Brunei Petroleum as well as companies from other countries.  The front booth near the entrance was occupied by Brunei Energy Division, Prime Ministers Office.

















On the second day of the expo,  there was a ceremony to handover the solar panels to the participating secondary schools throughout the country.  The handover was done by The Minister of Energy himself to the Principals of the participating secondary schools.  The handover was hoped to encourage more creative explorations on the use of solar panels as an alternative source of energy in Brunei from youth particularly students.

On this opportunity, SMMG Energy Club would like to thank Energy Division, Prime Ministers Office and The Pusat Kerjasama Sains, Teknology dan Alam Sekitar (Pusat STEP), Ministry of Education for giving us the opportunity to become creative and the full financial and moral support given throughout the Brunei Energy Expo 2011.

Also, special thanks to all working committee from Department of Electrical Services (DES) for the mouth-watering refreshments from breakfast to lunches and hi-tea for students and teachers.  We appreciate what you have done for us.
